Livelihood development is a key pillar within the Multi Annual Programme Plan (MAPP) implemented by Auschidys Disability Africa, aimed at fostering inclusion and empowering youth with disabilities to transition from skill training to gainful employment and self-independence. Through strategic partnerships and innovative programs, Auschidys is creating pathways for skilled youth with disabilities to thrive and enhance their quality of life.
Auschidys Disability Africa’s initiatives in livelihood development include:
“Work and Respect” Programme with Cheshire Disability Services Kenya: Through a strategic partnership with Cheshire Disability Services Kenya, a key partner of Lilianne Fonds in the Netherlands, Auschidys has launched the transformative “Work and Respect” programme. This initiative focuses on providing skills training and employment opportunities for youth with disabilities.
Skill Training in Hospitality and Automotive Engineering: As part of the “Work and Respect” programme, Auschidys has identified and trained two youth with disabilities in specialized skills such as hospitality and automotive engineering. These vocational training programs equip participants with practical skills and knowledge essential for employment in their chosen fields.
Internship Placements at Almasi International School and Ddrumist Auto Garage: Following their skill training, the two youth with disabilities have secured internship placements at reputable establishments—Almasi International Christian School and Ddrumist Auto Garage. These internships provide valuable hands-on experience, allowing participants to apply their skills in real-world settings and gain confidence in their abilities.
The impact of the “Work and Respect” programme is profound. By facilitating skill development and internship opportunities, Auschidys Disability Africa empowers youth with disabilities to achieve self-sufficiency and meaningful employment. This not only enhances their economic independence but also boosts their self-esteem and overall well-being.
Through the Livelihood pillar of the Multi Annual Programme Plan, Auschidys Disability Africa is committed to breaking barriers and creating inclusive pathways to sustainable livelihoods for individuals with disabilities. By nurturing talents, fostering skill development, and forging partnerships, Auschidys is paving the way for a more equitable society where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and live a fulfilling life. The success stories of the two youth participating in the “Work and Respect” programme exemplify the transformative impact of Auschidys Disability Africa’s holistic approach to livelihood development. By championing inclusion and empowerment, Auschidys is setting a precedence for meaningful change and promoting a future where disability is not a barrier to success and independence.
