Martin Kilavi

FOUNDER & EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

A Vision Born from Personal Experience

Some organizations are founded from strategy.

Others are founded from necessity.

Auschidys Disability Africa was founded from love.

Martin Kilavi never imagined that his greatest life’s work would begin in his own home. As a father raising two children with autism, dyslexia, and schizophrenia, he experienced firsthand the challenges, stigma, exclusion, and uncertainty that many families of persons with disabilities face every day. Yet within those challenges, he discovered something powerful: potential where others saw limitations, ability where others saw disability, and purpose where others saw obstacles.

What began as a father’s journey soon became a mission.

Determined that no family should walk this path alone, Martin founded Auschidys Disability Africa to champion a future where every child, youth, and adult with a disability can access quality education, healthcare, economic opportunities, and full participation in society. Today, that vision has grown into a movement reaching communities across Kenya and beyond through advocacy, inclusive education, health and rehabilitation, caregiver empowerment, livelihood development, and social inclusion programmes.

Martin’s leadership is rooted in lived experience. He understands disability not as a theory or policy discussion, but as a daily reality experienced by millions of families. This unique perspective has enabled him to build bridges between communities, government institutions, development partners, faith organizations, schools, healthcare providers, and the disability community itself.

Under his leadership, Auschidys Disability Africa has empowered thousands of individuals and families, developed innovative disability inclusion programmes, strengthened caregiver support systems, and contributed to national conversations on disability rights and inclusion. He has also championed the Disability Inclusive and Equity Training (DIET) framework and helped position disability inclusion as a critical component of sustainable development.

Beyond his professional role, Martin is a father, mentor, worship leader, community mobilizer, and passionate advocate for human dignity. His work is guided by a simple but unwavering belief:

Every person, regardless of disability, deserves to be seen, valued, included, and given the opportunity to thrive.

Today, Martin continues to lead Auschidys Disability Africa with faith, courage, and a vision for an Africa where disability is not viewed as a limitation but recognized as part of the rich diversity of humanity.

His mission is not simply to build an organization.

It is to build a world where no child is overlooked, no family is forgotten, and no person with a disability is left behind.
