SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being
Caregiver Empowerment
the programme
The People Who Make Inclusion Possible
Caregivers, whether parents, siblings, grandparents, or community members, are the unsung heroes of disability inclusion. They provide daily care, navigate complex systems, advocate for their loved ones, and often do so without formal training, support, or recognition. Yet a caregiver who is trained, supported, and emotionally resilient becomes the most powerful force for their family member’s inclusion. Auschidys’s Caregiver Empowerment pillar changes that reality by strengthening families from the ground up, recognising that the health and well-being of caregivers is inseparable from the well-being of those they care for.
Our Response
Behind every empowered person with a disability is a supported caregiver. Through structured training, peer networks, and psychosocial support, we equip caregivers with the skills, emotional resilience, and confidence they need, not just to care for their family members, but to thrive themselves. This work directly advances SDG 3 by promoting mental health and well-being, reducing the burden of care-related stress, and ensuring that caregivers have access to the psychosocial support services essential for their own health and resilience.
Key Impact Highlights:
- 500+ caregivers reached through comprehensive empowerment programmes.

- Peer support networks connecting caregivers across communities.

- Respite care programmes giving caregivers time to rest and recharge.
- Caregiver recognition events honouring the backbone of our community.
Our Approach
- Psychosocial Support: Caregivers carry enormous emotional weight. Our counsellors and peer facilitators provide safe spaces for sharing, healing, and building resilience.
- Peer Networks: Structured peer support groups connect caregivers across communities, facilitating the sharing of experiences, strategies, and mutual encouragement throughout the caregiving journey.
- DIET Training: We train caregivers using the DIET curriculum, giving them the skills, knowledge, and confidence to provide effective, dignity-affirming care at home.
- Advocacy Voice: Caregivers are advocates. We train and platform caregivers to speak at community events, engage with government, and influence policy on disability support.
